Luanda, Angola, the nation's capital and largest city. It is Angola's main industrial center and one of its main seaports. The city is linked to the interior by railways and roads, and is served by an international airport. The University of Luanda and the Museum of Angola are here. Luanda was founded by the Portuguese in 1575. For nearly three centuries it was the center of a large slave trade to Brazil.
