Magdalen Islands, or îles de la Madeleine, an island group of Quebec, Canada. It is in the Gulf of St. Lawrence 100 miles (160 km) south of Anticosti Island. The area of the 16 islands is 78 square miles (202 km2). Settlements are small. Fishing, fish processing, and tourism are economic mainstays.
