Aarhus, Denmark's second largest city. It is a seaport and the capital of Aarhus County. The city lies on the eastern coast of Jutland on Aarhus Bay, an inlet of Kattegat Strait. Products include soap, margarine, machinery, refrigerators, beer, telephones, and processed foods. The University of Aarhus is here. The Old Town Museum is a reproduction of a 16th- or 17th-century Danish town, for which more than 50 original buildings were moved in from all parts of Denmark. The first settlers were Vikings of the eighth century.
