Torreón, Mexico, a city in Coahuila state in north-central Mexico, about 200 miles (320 km) west of Monterrey. It lies in a major cotton- and wheat-producing area and is a railway and trading center. There are mines and vineyards nearby. Industries include smelting, flour milling, and cotton processing. Torreón was founded in 1887.
