Casiquiare River, also Cassiquiare River and Canal Casiquiare, a river linking the Orinoco and Amazon river systems of South America. The Casiquiare branches from the Orinoco in southern Venezuela and flows south westward about 220 miles (350 km) through flat marshy land to the Rio Negro, a principal tributary of the Amazon.
