Irving, Texas, a city in Dallas County and a residential and industrial suburb of Dallas. The University of Dallas is here, as is Texas Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys professional football team. Irving was founded in 1902 and grew slowly until the 1950's, when it began to expand rapidly as part of the Dallas-Fort Worth urban area. The city is governed by a manager and commission.
