Marietta Georgia, the seat of Cobb County. It is 15 miles (24 km) northwest of downtown Atlanta. A huge Lockheed Martin military aircraft plant adjoins nearby Dobbins Air Force Base. Marietta was settled in 1832 and incorporated in 1834. A national military cemetery was established here in 1866. Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, site of a Civil War battle, is nearby. The city has the council-manager form of government.
