Meriden, Connecticut, a city in New Haven County. It is on the Quinnipiac River, 17 miles (27 km) north-northeast of New Haven. Meriden is known as “The Silver City” because the International Silver Company, one of the world's largest producers of sterling and plated silverware, is here. Other products include hardware, lighting equipment, and jewelry. The Andrews Homestead (built about 1760) is a museum. Meriden was settled in 1661.
