Geography of Moline
Moline, Illinois, a city in Rock Island County. It is on the Mississippi River, in the northwestern part of the state. Moline and the three adjacent cities of East Moline and Rock Island, Illinois, and Davenport, Iowa, form the core of the “Quad Cities” area. Moline and adjoining East Moline are leading producers of farm tractors, agricultural implements, and related products.
Moline was first settled in 1829. It was organized by a mill company and named for the French moulin,meaning “mill.” Moline was incorporated as a town in 1848 and as a city in 1872.
