Moorhead, Minnesota, the seat of Clay County. It is 217 miles (350 km) northwest of Minneapolis, on the Red River of the North opposite Fargo, North Dakota. Moorhead is a processing center for Red River Valley products, including sugar beets, potatoes, and dairy foods. Farm equipment is manufactured here. The city is the seat of Concordia College and Moorhead State University. A mayor and council govern the city, which was incorporated in 1881.
