Naperville, Illinois, a city in the northeastern part of the state, west of Chicago. Naperville is a research center with many laboratories and science-based industries. The Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, a large research facility, is just outside the city limits. Naperville is the site of North Central College. Naper Settlement, a re-created 19th-century village open to the public, is in the city. Naperville was founded in 1831.
