Norristown, Pennsylvania, the seat of Montgomery County. The city is on the Schuylkill River in the southeastern part of the state. It is a regional trade center and has varied manufacturing industries.

The Montgomery County Historical Society maintains a collection of folk art in Norristown. Valley Forge State Park, a campsite for the Continental Army during the American Revolution, is six miles (10 km) southwest of the city. Norristown was laid out in 1784.
