Norwich, Connecticut, a city in New London Country. It is 35 miles (56 km) southeast of Hartford. At Norwich the Yantic and Shetucket rivers unite to form the Thames River. Products include textiles, clothing, paper, metals, and electrical wire. Norwich was founded in 1659. During the 18th century, Norwich was a shipbuilding and cannon manufacturing center. Benedict Arnold was born here. Norwich has the council-manager form of government.
