Ontario, California, a city in San Bernardino County, 35 miles (56 km) east of downtown Los Angeles. It is an industrial city in a fruit-growing region and produces citrus products, aircraft parts, and electrical appliances. The California 500 auto race is held here each Labor Day. Nearby is Ontario International Airport, one of Los Angeles' main airports. Ontario was founded in 1882 by Canadians, who named it for their home province.
