Oxnard, California, a city in Ventura County. It is on Santa Barbara Channel, an arm of the Pacific Ocean, about 55 miles (90 km) west-northwest of Los Angeles. Products include office supplies, chemicals, plastics, and farm implements. The city is a processing and marketing center for the surrounding area, in which sugar beets, citrus fruits, and vegetables are grown. Several naval installations are nearby. Oxnard was founded in 1897 and incorporated as a city in 1903. It has the council-manager form of government.
