, Illinois, the seat of Tazewell County. It is on the Illinois River, almost 150 miles (240 km) southwest of Chicago and 10 miles (16 km) south of Peoria. Paper products, fabricated metals, food products, and machinery are produced. Pekin was settled in 1824. It has the commission form of government.
