Redlands, California, a city in San Bernardino County, 60 miles (97 km) east of downtown Los Angeles. Redlands is in one of the world's largest orange-growing areas. The main industry is packing and shipping fruit. The city also produces rocket fuel, lumber, and clothes. The University of Redlands and the Asistencia Mission de San Gabriel (1830), a restored Spanish mission, are here. Redlands was settled in 1887 and was incorporated the following year.
