Redmond, Washington, a city in King County. It is at the north end of Lake Sammamish east of downtown Seattle. Redmond is the home of several high-tech and biomedical firms, including Microsoft Corporation. Settled by pioneers in 1871 and incorporated in 1912, the town's first major industry was logging. As loggers depleted the nearby forests, agriculture became the major economic industry in the 1920's. Redmond experienced strong residential growth with the completion of the Evergreen Point floating bridge in 1963.
