Scottsdale, Arizona, a city in Maricopa County, just east of Phoenix. Scottsdale is mainly a residential community with popular winter resorts. There is some light manufacturing.

Among the city's attractions is Rawhide, a replica of an 1880's Western town. The Scottsdale Center for the Arts offers music and dance events and art exhibits. Scottsdale's annual rodeo and Arabian horse show, both in February, are major events.

The population of Scottsdale has increased dramatically since the city's incorporation in 1951. Many new residents are attracted by the dry, sunny climate.
