Urbana, Illinois, the seat of Champaign County. Urbana is about 125 miles (200 km) south of Chicago, in a rich farming region. The main campus of the University of Illinois is located here and in the adjoining city of Champaign. The university and industries connected with it are responsible for most of Urbana's professional and business activities. The city is also a trade center for farm products from the surrounding area.

Urbana was settled in 1822 and was incorporated as a city in 1833. It has the mayor-council form of government.
