Victoria, Texas, the seat of Victoria County. It is on the Guadalupe River, about 100 miles (160 km) southeast of San Antonio. Victoria is the processing and distributing center for a region that produces mainly grain, cattle, and petroleum. Industries include food processing, oil refining, and the manufacturing of chemicals and oil field equipment. The city is also an inland port, linked with the Gulf of Mexico by a barge canal. Victoria was founded in 1824.
