Watertown, New York, the seat of Jefferson County. The city is 65 miles (105 km) north of Syracuse. Watertown is on the Black River, which has falls 112 feet (34 m) high within the city limits. Watertown's products include air brakes, papermaking machinery, clinical thermometers, and electric motors. Attractions include the Jefferson County Historical Society Museum and a science museum. Whitewater rafting on the Black River is also a major attraction. Watertown was settled in 1800.
