Finger Lakes, eleven long, narrow glacial lakes in western New York. Canandaigua, Keuka, Seneca, Cayuga, Owasco, and Skaneateles are the largest. The Finger Lakes are noted for their scenic beauty and are used extensively for swimming, boating, and fishing. Many resorts and wineries are located in the region. The canalized Seneca River links Seneca and Cayuga lakes with the New York State Barge Canal.
