Madison River, one of the three head-streams of the Missouri River. It begins in Yellowstone National Park in northwestern Wyoming, and flows 183 miles (295 km) to join the Jefferson and Gallatin rivers near Three Forks, in southwestern Montana. The Lewis and Clark Expedition named the three rivers in 1805.
