Merrimack River, a river of New Hampshire and Massachusetts, about 110 miles (177 km) long. The Pemigewasset and Winnipesaukee rivers join at Franklin, New Hampshire, to form the Merrimack. It flows southward past Concord, Manchester, and Nashua, and northeastward (in Massachusetts) past Lowell, Lawrence, and Haverhill to Newburyport, where it enters the Atlantic.
