Pictured Rocks, a series of sandstone cliffs in Alger County, Michigan, on the southern shore of Lake Superior. The many-colored cliffs, which rise as much as 200 feel (60 m) above the lake, have been carved into unusual formations by erosion. They extend along the lake for 20 miles (32 km), and are part of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
