Pocono Mountains, a mountainous area in northeastern Pennsylvania. It is a part of the Appalachians. The mountains extend northeast-southwest and form part of the eastern edge of the Allegheny Plateau. The Poconos' maximum elevation is about 2,200 feet (670 m) above sea level.
