Juan de Fuca, Strait of, an inlet of the Pacific Ocean. It separates Vancouver Island, British Columbia, from the Olympic Peninsula of the state of Washington. The Strait is about 100 miles (160 km) long and 11 to 17 miles (18 to 27 km) wide. Ships travel through this channel to Victoria and Vancouver in British Columbia, and to Seattle and other Puget Sound ports in Washington.
