Wasatch Range, a part of the Rocky Mountains. It extends southward for about 250 miles (400 km) from southeastern Idaho to central Utah. It is east of the Great Salt Lake and forms part of the eastern border of the Great Basin. The major cities of Utah are on the range's western slope. The highest peak is Mount Timpanogos, which reaches 12,008 feet (3,660 m). There are ski resorts in the mountains. Several short rivers flowing down the western slopes provide irrigation water for a rich farming area.
